Description of Current Facility (ies)

The BLBAHDB provides services in 3 permanent facilities; 2 in Bayou La Batre and 1 in McIntosh, Alabama that are all appropriate for the level of staffing and scope of services.

The main clinic site in BLB, Mostellar Medical Clinic is housed in a 25,000 sq. ft. building that has 34 exam rooms, separate in-house labs and trauma rooms for pediatric and adult patients, x-ray/EKG facilities and administrative offices. Pediatric services ar provided in the East wing of the facility and adult medicine in the West.

The Pediatric dental clinic, Mostellar Dental center also located in BLB has 7 operatories/exam rooms, lab, x-ray and offices in a 4,460 sq. ft. facility.

The 3rd facility, South West Alabama Health Services, is a 7,000 sq. ft. building located in McIntosh, Alabama (Washington County). It includes 10 exam rooms, x-ray facilities, laboratory, a trauma room and staff offices.

Staff at the BLBAHDB number over 90 employees: a full-time Medical Director, 5 Pediatricians, 5 internists, 1 mid-level CRNP OB-GYN provider, 1 dentist, 2 dental hygienists, 2 dental assistants, 12 nurses, 8 medical assistants, 6 lab technicians, and 1 x-ray technician. Support staff includes 15 clinical and 24 administrative support staff. Operations are managed by a CEO, COO and CFO in addition to the Medical Director. Medical services provided include general primary medical care, diagnostic x-ray, diagnostic tests and screens, urgent medical care, family planning, HIV testing, immunizations, gynecological care and hearing and vision screening. Dental services include emergency, preventive and basic restorative work such as filings. All physicians provide after hour and weekend coverage.
